The Institute for Peace Studies (IPS) announces its 2nd registration period which will start next Sunday, 1st of August; each day except Fridays & Saturdays; from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center and will continue until the 10th of August, 2010.

IPS takes part in the UPSAM Final Networking Conference held in Jordan, from 1 to 4 August 2010. The conference was organized by the University for Peace (UPEACE) and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund For Human Development (JOHUD). The conference focused on sharing experiences and building a network for future academic cooperation between the main partners of the UPSAM program; mainly universities and institutions from South Asia, the Middle East and the horn of Africa.

- IPS will begin its fourth round of courses on the 9th of June by offering three new courses:
- Research and Training Methods in Peace and Conflict Studies - Gender and Peace Building - Conflict Transformation In addition to the regular courses offered: - Challenges of Building Culture(s) of Peace - Conflict Resolution - Mediation and Negotiation

- On the 28th of April 2010, IPS hosted a visit by Mrs. Cindy Dyer, Vital Voices Global Partnership Senior Director for Human Rights Programs.

On the 8th of August, IPS held a certificate giving ceremony followed by a tea party to celebrate the end of its third round of courses. Dr. Ismail Serageldin handed out the certificates to the participants and spoke about the importance of offering these courses as a starting point for youth's participation in disseminating the culture of peace.
