The Institute for Peace Studies will be celebrating the International Peace Day on the 21st of September 2010, mark the date on your calendar.

Program

 This is a fellowship granted to women to conduct research in the area of “peace” and “gender” studies in the bibliotheca Alexandrina. The program was administrated by IPS.

Fellowship Description:
Duration:
15 June 2005 – 15 May 2007
Number of Fellowships: 20 fellowships in two years

Time Frame of Research Programs:
First Cycle: June 2005 to May 2006
Second Cycle: June 2006 to May 2007

Candidate Requirements:

  • Graduate or post-graduate researchers
  • Women not older than 40 years of age
  • Women of high intellectual promise who are expected to make significant contributions to their countries after they return
  • A research proposal that is imaginative and innovative

  • Research on Gender Issues
  • The Role of Women in Society
  • Women and Cultural Heritage
  • Women and the Culture of Peace and Development
  • The Role of Women during Armed Conflict

Language of Study: English - French - Arabic

Duration of Research Work at the BA: minimum 3 months and maximum 6 months

Expected Outcomes:  

  • Strengthening the Organization's capacity building activities
  • Enabling the upgrading of knowledge developments in areas relating to peace and gender issues
  • Supporting innovation, research and information in fields related to peace and gender issues
  • Ensuring a "multiplier effect" by sharing and disseminating knowledge gained through the study period upon return to home country
  • Forging links and contacts
  • Fostering friendship, international understanding and peace through intercultural exchange
  • Kindling interest in the work of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak's Women's International Peace Movement
